Waterfront Revitalization Will be the Topic Tonight in Saugeen Shores

Saugeen Shores | by John Divinski

Mayor Luke Charbonneau has said they could accept, reject, defer or refer the plan.

In just a few hours, the proposed plans for the Port Elgin Beach revitalization will be unveiled at a special Saugeen Shores Committee of the Whole meeting.

The draft drawings have been available for the last few days and tonight we find out what the people are thinking, although there has been a lot said on social media already.

If you were thinking of being a delegation, you're out of luck.

There's only room for three and those spots have been filled.

The delegations will have 10-minutes each to speak and council will be allowed to make comments or ask questions of the presenters.

Mayor Luke Charbonneau says the next best thing is the Open Forum where there'll be time for 10-speakers at 3 minutes each rather than the usual 5 speakers.

People can sign up for that at the meeting and it's first come, first served.

However, bear in mind, that council will not be commenting or asking questions of the Open Forum presenters.

The special meeting gets underway at 6:30pm but it's expected the doors to the Rotary Hall will be opened far earlier than that.

It's also expected councillors will make a recommendation for council at a future meeting.

The Mayor has said they could accept, reject, defer or refer the plan.
