Active seniors programs at the MacKay Centre in Goderich are getting a boost from the province.

Huron-Bruce Tory MPP Lisa Thompson recently announced a grant of over $52,000, to help with daily operating costs and upgrades.

Thompson says almost $43,000 will go towards programming while another $10,000 will help pay for improvements like WiFi, a website upgrade and additional furniture.

She adds that the ceilings in the facility at Nelson and North Streets will also be repaired.

Thompson says the funding and improvements will enhance what she calls a hub for Goderich and area seniors.

The MacKay Centre for Seniors is among over 300 such facilities provincewide, that are sharing in $14.1 million in improvement funding from Queen's Park.
