Three local organizations have come together to keep those in need warm this festive season.

Over the last 5 weeks Fabricare Cleaning Center, the Rotary Club of Bracebridge/Muskoka Lakes and the District of Muskoka have worked to keep Muskoka residents warm during winter.

The It Takes a Village Winter Coat Drive Campaign started October 28th and accepted winter wear donations of coats, snow pants, toques and mitts throughout November. The donated items were then made available to individuals in need throughout the Muskoka community.

Samantha Hastings, Commissioner of Community and Planning Services with the District of Muskoka, says we are so fortunate to also have had many District staff and their families offer support to the drive through washing and drying donated items after work.

"This support, combined with the donations from residents and local businesses are what truly make this coat drive a Muskoka community initiative,” she adds.

Over 500 coats were donated, washed, dried and transported to District of Muskoka Community Service Hubs located in Bracebridge, Gravenhurst and Huntsville and made available for pick up by Muskoka residents.

If you or your organization is interested in supporting the coat drive in 2020 please email communications@muskoka.on.ca.
