Upper Grand District School Board trustees have approved an initiative focused on climate change.
The trustees are publicly recognizing the challenges that youth face regarding climate change and want to take action.
Several motions were approved at a meeting on November 26th, to establish an ad hoc Trustee Climate Change Committee, that will include one student trustee.
They will also collectively declare a climate change emergency recognizing the threat on our young people.
Trustees will now prepare a Terms of Reference for the Trustee Climate Change Committee, which will consider issues such as identifying how trustees can reduce their carbon footprint and identify how climate impact could be included in the trustee decision-making process.
