A former Mayor of the Town of Orangeville has passed away.
Gordon Courtney served the town from 1976 to 1991, six years as a Councillor and nine years as Mayor.
He was born and raised in Orangeville and he and his wife Jessie owned and operated the Coffee Corner restaurant until 1976, and Gord's New and Used Furniture until 1990.
Courtney was known for his dedicated involvement in the community and quiet demeanour.
Current Mayor Sandy Brown says he first met Mr. Courtney when he gave an inspirational speech at a Mayor's Prayer Breakfast several years ago and acknowledged all of his accomplishments and offered his condolences to his family and friends.
