The Goderich Flyers managed to keep the game close through two periods despite being seriously outshot, but ultimately fell 6-1 to the Wingham Ironmen in Provincial Junior Hockey League action Friday.
Wingham led 1-0 after one period of play, and added a goal in the second.
Forward Chad Treble reduced the Wingham lead to 3-1, with the lone Flyers' marker on a feed from Parker Gibbings and Jack Stecho at 7:17 of the third period.
Forward Rhys Vollmer led Wingham with three assists.
Wingham doubled the Flyers in shots on goal, 50 to 25.
The game was played at Eastlink Arena in Clinton.
The loss leaves Goderich in seventh place in the PJHL Pollock Division, now three points behind Walkerton after the Hawks defeated Kincardine 3-2 at home Friday.
Goderich has a back-to-back weekend coming up as they host Wingham at MRC for the Flyers' annual pajama toss, Saturday November 30th at 7:30pm -- that's followed by a home game against Mount Forest on Sunday December 1st at 2:30pm.
One other game in the division Friday saw Zack Cameron lead Hanover with two goals, in the Barons' 3-1 home-ice win over Mitchell.
In the PJHL Yeck Division, Jonathon Frook accounted for the lone Exeter goal, in a 4-1 loss at Thamesford.
