OPP Warning Follows Exeter Drug Theft

Exeter | by Peter Jackson

Police advise homeowners to check credentials of servicepeople before letting them into the house

A warning of stranger danger for adults, after a recent incident at a trailer park in Exeter.

Huron OPP tell us a man allegedly stole a quantity of prescription drugs from a home, after arriving at the residence posing as a repair person.

Police say the suspect told the victim he was checking for plumbing leaks, and left fairly quickly.

Investigators say that's when the resident discovered a bottle of prescription meds had gone missing from a kitchen cupboard.

OPP are looking for a white man in his 40s, around five-foot-three, with shaved grey hair and poor teeth.

When last seen, he was wearing a black windbreaker jacket with two grey stripes, and blue jeans -- he left the property in a newer-model black Ford F-150 pick-up truck.

Police advise residents to always check for identification when someone shows up at your door unannounced, looking to check plumbing or offering to perform repairs.
