Parents to rally against education cuts

Collingwood | by Ian MacLennan

"Walk-ins" planned at nine Simcoe County schools.

700 "walk-in's" are being held before and after school across the province today by parents demanding the Ford government reverse cuts to education.

Organizers at nine Simcoe County schools including in Orillia, Barrie, Oro-Medonte and Collingwood have signed up to take part.

The organizers  say parents are concerned about cuts to per-pupil education funding,  larger class sizes, and a plan to introduce mandatory e-learning courses for high school students.

The rallies will  also celebrate the tentative contract reached with thousands of CUPE support staff.
