Bruce County has fired its Chief Administrative Officer.
According to a county release, the decision was made by Bruce County Council following a careful, considered review of information related to recent issues at the Brucelea Haven Long Term Care Home in Walkerton
Bruce County's CAO is the fourth senior employee dismissed recently over problems at Brucelea Haven. The Director of Health Services, Director of Human Resources and Administrator at Brucelea Haven were all let go last month.
All four senior employees were suspended with pay Sept. 5, then the county moved to fire all but the CAO on Sept. 13.
At the time, a county statement advised its CAO was still suspended with pay pending further considerations.
In July, all admissions to Brucelea Haven were halted following a Ministry of Health Inspection that revealed the County was not in compliance with a number of provincial standards.
Warden Mitch Twolan says in a statement they are committed to addressing these issues and moving forward to ensure the county's long-term care facilities provide a high level of care for residents in the future.
