Wasaga Beach councillors tackling the 2020 budget

Wasaga Beach | by Ian MacLennan

Wages, benefits, new positions, policing and fire are the main cost drivers on the operating side.

Wages, benefits, new positions, fire and policing are the main cost drivers for the 2020 operating budget in Wasaga Beach.

On the capital side,  there are funds for a new arena, new library, water and wastewater improvements,  renovations to town facilities, bridge and road work, and more.

Council Committee of the Whole got a first draft of the numbers this week, which parks the tax rate increase at 4.2 per cent, down from 16.5 in September,  with the expectation there will continue to be movement as councillors work their way through the budget process.

The second draft of the budget will be presented to council November 19.
