The giant vegetable event boasts a free Classic Car show along parts of downtown Port Elgin

Port Elgin Pumpkinfest is taking place today and tomorrow (October 5 and 6) in downtown Port Elgin and the Cinderella Classic Car Show (8-4PM) will see parts of Goderich Street and Bricker Street closed during the daytime hours of the giant vegetable event.

Pumpkinfest is apart of the Giant Pumpkin Commonwealth (GPC) and can anoint Guinness World Records.

Coordinator Joanne Robbins thanks her judges for taking part in the event, now in its 33rd year.

"That's a long day, they have to be accredited in case we get a Guinness World's pretty serious stuff because we're in the international community; the Giant Pumpkin Commonwealth (GPC)."

Family friendly activities including a petting zoo, carnival rides and pumpkin carving, are some of the things visitors can checkout beyond the weigh-off tent.
