Officials with the Huron County Food Bank Distribution Centre are working to clear up misconceptions about how the Centralia facility is funded, and how the money is spent.
Executive Director Mary Ellen Zielman Wednesday briefed Council on the Centre's activities and financial position.
She expects costs to increase this year over 2018, and that they will deliver more food to food banks throughout Huron.
Zielman also wanted to address false rumours about how the Centre interacts with food banks at the local level.
Councillor Bernie MacLellan tells Country 104.9 News that he had heard what turned out to be incorrect information, about local food banks paying for what they receive from the Centre.
He says he's happy that Zielman pointed out a lack of communication between Centre staff and its volunteers, on how the facility works.
MacLellan says he was concerned that money municipalities were transferring to the Centre might have gone for staff wages, but that's not the case.
The County's Chief Administrative Officer, Meighan Wark says a staff report is being prepared, based on Council's comments following Zielman's presentation.
