To say the Goderich Flyers are eager to start the 2019-20 Provincial Junior Hockey League season would be an understatement.
There is a new, more positive attitude in the dressing room and on the ice, which head coach Paulie O'Byrne says his players are buying into.
The Flyers sport a new look, sparked by an off-season four-player trade with the Wingham Ironmen that has brought second-year forward Parker Gibbings and veteran defenceman Kyle Langlois to Goderich.
Several other new faces join the Flyers, after intensive scouting by O'Byrne and General Manager Doug Timmermans.
O'Byrne tells us that the objective is for the Flyers this season is to win 25 games, and secure home-ice advantage in the playoffs which start in February.
He admits it's a bold prediction, but that it can be achieved through the new attitude he is instilling in the club.
The Flyers finished seventh in the PJHL's Pollock Division last year, and O'Byrne says Goderich is capable of grabbing third place this season.
Goderich went 3-1 in pre-season play with two wins over Kincardine and a home-ice victory over Lucan.
The PJHL regular season starts at the Maitland Rec Centre, as the Flyers host the Bulldogs Saturday at 7:30pm.
