Owen Sound Teacher Faces Sexual Assault Charges

Owen Sound | by Matt Hermiz

Hillcrest Elementary teacher arrested and charged by police for historical allegations of sexual assault involving a minor.

A teacher at Hillcrest Elementary School in Owen Sound has been charged with sexual assault and sexual exploitation.

Owen Sound Police say Kristopher Seaman, 43, was arrested yesterday in connection to historical allegations of sexual assault involving a minor.

Police have not released any further details about the allegations.

Police say Seaman is due to make a court appearance today.

City police only identified the accused as a teacher with the Bluewater District School Board, but he is listed as a teacher at Hillcrest Elementary on the school's website.

A spokesperson for the Bluewater District School Board says the school has taken "immediate action".

"The teacher is currently not at the school, and staff are fully cooperating with the police in their investigation," the Bluewater District School Board spokesperson says in a statement.

Owen Sound Police say they would like to speak with anyone who may have further information regarding the allegations or anyone who may be a victim.
