Alleged Drunk Driver Arrested in Oliphant

Police say the 44 year old South Bruce Peninsula man tried to avoid a RIDE

Grey Bruce OPP say a 44 year old South Bruce Peninsula driver tried to avoid police during a September 8th RIDE program in Oliphant.

Police say around 9 p.m., officers observed a white pick-up approach them and say it turned in the opposite direction of the RIDE checkpoint.

OPP say they stopped the driver and observed the odour of alcohol on his breath. 

The driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while impaired and was transported to Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Wiarton.

The driver has been released on a Promise to Appear with a court date for Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on September 26, 2019.
