119 Charges Laid in Commercial Vehicle Blitz

Regional | by Jill Young

Multiple police forces and government agencies worked together to target safety issues with commercial vehicles.

Well over 100 charges have been laid after a recent safety blitz on commercial vehicles.

Monday and Tuesday, OPP along with Orangeville Police, Halton, Peel, York and Waterloo Police forces, and the Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of the Environment worked together on the project.

There was a heavy police presence those days in the area of Riddell Road near Lockyer's bridge, and 26 commercial motor vehicles were taken out of service in Caledon.

A total of 119 charges were laid.

A driver of a dump truck blew an "alert" on an impaired driving breath device in the middle of the morning and received a three day driving suspension.
