A Goderich church is hosting an open house, in celebration of it's 185th anniversary.
Although St. George's Anglican Church first opened the doors to it's current-day building on North Street in 1880, Archdeacon Kim Van Allen says the congregation began gathering long before.
Van Allen says a log building was shared by several religious denominations on East Street, before each group was able to establish their own church.
Following use of the East Street building, St. George's moved to a barn on West Street, before the current North Street building was established.
Van Allen says the church has seen some notable changes, since forming in Goderich.
Among the most notable are the ordination of women in the church, and the allowance of remarriage for divorced persons.
The open house at St. George's Anglican Church will run Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m..
