Stolen Vehicle Found Destroyed By Fire

West Grey | by Bayshore News Staff

West Grey Police ask anyone with information about incident to contact them or Crime Stoppers.

A vehicle reported stolen in West Grey yesterday morning was later found on fire in a wooded area.

West Grey Police say at 5:39 a.m. Tuesday a report came in about a Ford Escape that had been stolen overnight from a residence on Concession 2.

Then at 1 p.m., police received another report about a vehicle on fire in Glenelg in a field south of Concession 6, just east of Sideroad 40.

Markdale firefighters attended the scene and arrived to find the vehicle completely up in flames. The West Grey Fire Department also attended to assist.

After the blaze was extinguished, West Grey Police officers approached the vehicle and confirmed it was the one reported stolen.

Police say it appears the occupants in the vehicle prior to the blaze drove around the woods where it was discovered on trails wide enough for a car to travel.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to called the West Grey Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
