The Southern Georgian Bay Association of Realtors' July numbers are a change from what we've been seeing the last few years.
Home sales are at their highest level in three years in the association's Western Region of Grey Highlands, Meaford, Blue Mountains, Collingwood, Wasaga Beach and Clearview Township.
(The Southern Georgian Bay region is made up of two distinctive markets, the East includes Midland, Penetanguishene, Tay, Tiny, Severn, and Georgian Bay Townships).
The Western Region saw the sale of 217 units in July 2019, which was a whopping 36.5 per cent increase from July 2018.
The association attributes that to a tight market in June, saying when there was an increase in new listings in July, people snapped them up.
Realtors say residential sales listed on MLS totalled 380 units last month.
That's big increase of 19.5 per cent from July 2018.
On a year-to-date basis, home sales totalled 1,938 units over the first seven months of the year, up 8.9 per cent from the same period in 2018.
From Meaford around the bay to Midland, there were 604 new listings in July in the Southern Georgian Bay Region. That's a 17.3 per cent increase on a year-over-year basis and the most they've seen for July since 2015.
The Association of Realtors says despite the increase, the supply of listings is still very low historically, especially before 2016.
