Georgian College Barrie Fire Caused $1.2-Million in Damages

Blaze originated in a laser cutter.

Damage is pegged at $1.5 million from a fire at Georgian College's Barrie campus.

Officials say the fire started in a laser cutter.

Classes resume today (THURSDAY),  except in the building impacted by the blaze,  which housed the hospitality and tourism department.

The fire erupted around 4 a.m. Wednesday and was contained to an office and classroom,  but there was extensive smoke in several adjoining buildings.
