While going on a diet to shed unwanted pounds might sound like a great idea, public health officials say some weight-loss plans may actually be bad for you.

Fad diets have been around for decades, and many more are popping up through social media.
Huron County Health Unit dietician Amy MacDonald tells us the key to good health is to maintain the bodies we have, instead of dieting to lose weight.
She adds that many diets can actually be harmful, and don't always promote good health.
To avoid the risk of possibly compromising your physical and mental health, MacDonald advises that you ditch the bathroom scales, eat well and exercise.
