Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds 5 Owen Sound Attack 2
( The Greyhounds lead the best of 7 series; 2-1 )

Greyhounds 5 Attack 2

Barrett Hayton had a shorthanded goal as part of a 4 point performance as the Greyhounds took a 2-1 series lead.

Jaromir Pytlik opened the scoring on a power play 6 minutes into the affair before Hayton went to work on a shorthanded forecheck and gave Sault Ste Marie a 2-0 lead.

The Attack fought back to tie the score in the first period when Barret Kirwin scored 4 on 4, and then with just 8 seconds remaining in the period, Aidan Dudas drilled a one timer set up from Brady Lyle as the team went to the 2nd period tied 2-2.

The Greyhounds got the go ahead goal, and game winner, from Keeghan Howdeshell who beat Attack netminder Mack Guzda from the high slot

The 3rd period started very cautiously before the Greyhounds would seal the deal with 2 markers 91 seconds apart.

First hard working rookie Alex Johnston would give the Soo a 2 goal lead and then defenceman Holden Wale would rifle a shot past Guzda to complete the scoring.

Owen Sound outshot the Greyhounds 33-28 but failed to capitalize on 6 power play opportunities. That lack of production was magnified by Sault Ste Marie's power play goal from Pytlik and then compounded by the shorthanded goal by Hayton

With the win, the Greyhounds lead the Western Conference Quarterfinal 2 games to 1.
