Former Attack Players Return to Win for Storm

Owen Sound | by Ken Hashizume

Suzuki, Roberts, and Phillips all got points in their first game back in Owen Sound.

Three former Attack players made their return to Owen Sound a memorable one.

Nick Suzuki scored and added an assist as the Guelph Storm hammered the Attack 7-2 on Saturday night.

Suzuki, Zach Roberts (1 assist), and Markus Phillips (1 assist) all played their first game at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre since being traded by the Attack to the Storm near the deadline in January.

The Storm (37-17-6-4) led 3-2 heading into the third period when they scored three straight goals from Cedric Ralph, Dmitri Samorukov, and Suzuki in a 1:21 span to go up 6-2.

Suzuki, Fedor Gordeev (1 goal, 1 assist), Nate Schnarr (1 goal, 1 assist), and Isaac Ratcliffe (2 assist) each finished with 2 points while Nico Daws stopped 20 shots.

Brady Lyle and Nolan Seed replied for the Attack (29-30-4-2) while Andrew MacLean (16 saves) and Mack Guzda (16 saves) combined to make 32 saves.

Guelph went 1-for-1 with the man advantage, Owen Sound were 1-for-3.

Despite the loss, the Attack did clinch a playoff spot for the ninth consecutive season thanks to the Windsor Spitfires losing to Flint last night.

The next game for the Attack is this Wednesday night when they host the Barrie Colts.
