The Owen Sound Attack brought an end to a three-game slide and creeped closer to clinching a playoff spot.

Jackson Doherty scored what stood as the game-winner as the Attack edged out the Windsor Spitfires 4-3 in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday night at the WFCU Centre.

Daylon Groulx, Kaleb Pearson and Aidan Dudas also scored for Owen Sound, which struck twice on the power play in the game.

Cole Purboo tallied twice for the Spitfires, while Nathan Staios added one.

The Attack (29-29-4-2) finished their five-game road trip away from the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre 2-3-0-0, picking up wins over Windsor and North Bay, while dropping games in Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie and Flint.

Bayshore Broadcasting Sports Director Fred Wallace says the magic number for the Attack to secure a playoff spot is down to 1.5, with Owen Sound 10 points clear of the ninth-place Erie Otters (25-33-3-1).

The win also moved the Attack into a tie with the Kitchener Rangers at 64 points, although Kitchener remains in the fifth spot in the Western Conference holding a game in hand.

The Attack play three of their final four regular season games at home. The first is on Saturday against the Guelph Storm (36-16-6-4).
