High Falls Outrage

Bracebridge. | by Matt Sitler

Family at centre of accusations about shoreline tampering speaks out.

The family at the centre of accusations about shoreline tampering and tree removal near High Falls in Bracebridge says they are being "publicly attacked once again."

In a letter to Country 102, they say only legal activities are taking place on their private property.

This includes cleaning up years of fallen dead trees, cleaning the beachfront and repairing a retaining wall which they say they had permission to do from the Ministry of Natural Resources.

They also say they have site approval to expand their campground from its current number of sites to double if they wish.

At a public meeting last week, Macaulay Ward Candidate Paul Everitt described trees being knocked down and silt fencing not being used.

He described it as "a travesty."
