The Orillia Terriers are eager to get the new hockey season underway.
The team is coming off a great pre-season winning a pair of individual games and later winning the Alliston Hornets tournament last week.
The Terriers won only 4 games last season (4-38-0).
That prompted a slew of changes both on and off the ice.
First was the naming of Nick Ricca as the team's head coach.
Ricca says there is still a lot of work to be done
But he says the players are buying into what they are being taught and the early results are showing it.
Ricca says it was a lot of work to get this team back to respectability.
But he says they knew what the challenge when they were brought in and is excited to take it.
One of the returning players from last season's squad is Jacob Beard who was installed as the team's captain.
Beard says coaches and management are working hard to put a quality team together.
He says it is starting to shape up and the players owe it to them to work just as hard.
The Terriers open the 2018-2019 Provincial Junior Hockey League season this Saturday night at home against the defending Carruthers Division champions the Stayner Siskins.
Game time at Rotary Place is 7:30 PM.
