Huron Shore Run This Weekend

Southampton | by Travis Jackson

The 30th annual run will raise money for the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation.

It's going to be a busy weekend in Southampton!

Come and lace up your sneakers for the 30th annual Rotary Huron Shore Run, which takes place this Saturday from 8am-3pm beginning at the Coliseum.

Entry level competitors are welcome. All participants enjoy roadside refreshments and a free lunch donated by the Walker House.

There is a 3km, 5km, 10km and a 1/2 marathon course setup for any level of fitness.

It is a race but it’s main purpose is to have fun and get out and participate in a fund raising event for the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation and the Saugeen Track Club.

If you need to carb-load before the run, you can do so this Friday (June 1st) at Southampton’s first ever Noodle Night. Participating restaurants will help runners and guests prepare for the big day by offering pasta selections. And on Saturday (June 2nd) come to Southampton bright and early as businesses will be open at 8:00am to celebrate the Rotary Huron Shores Run participants and spectators.

If you’re looking for something to do after the run take advantage of Thorncrest Outfitters’ Saugeen Paddle event at 2pm.

Running in conjunction with all of these other events is the 6th annual Health and Wellness Fair, which also takes place at the Southampton Coliseum. The fair will showcase local health and wellness professionals and their services. Over 30 vendors will take part in the free event that runs from 8:30am-12:00pm this Saturday. The event is generously sponsored by Bruce Power.

The PLAY Kids Fun Run is another highlight of the day. The free 800m run is a great way for children 8 years and younger to participate. The run starts at 8:30am. Participants can pre-register online at or register at the Coliseum on Saturday morning. All participants receive a medal and PLAY swag bag.

Back by popular demand, this year's Kids Fun Zone is presented by Kamps for Kids and will offer fun activities for kids while their parents explore the fair. The Kids Fun Zone opens at 9:00am, after the PLAY Fun Run.
