Colts Fry Fish, Advance to Face Frontenacs

8 unanswered goals, Svechikov with 5 points to lead Barrie to a 4-2 series win.

The Barrie Colts were not going to be fooled against the Steelheads in Mississauga.
The Colts scored 8 unanswered goals in an 8-2 victory Sunday afternoon to win their OHL Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series 4-2.
It was the Steelheads who got on the board first on a goal by Michael McLeod (1 goal, 1 assist) for a 1-0 first period lead.
Cole Carter (1 goal, 1 assist) would make it 2-0 for Mississauga early in the second period.
But the Colts climbed back midway through the period on goals by Aaron Luchuk (1 goal, 3 assists) and Zach Magwood (2 goals) seven seconds apart to tie it up at 2-2.
With Barrie up 3-0 in the third, Andrei Svechnikov (2 goals, 3 assists) -- in his second game back from a 4-game suspension -- would get his first two goals of the playoffs then Dmitry Sokolov (2 goals) scored consecutive goals to put the Colts up 7-2.
In between Svechnikov’s goals, the Colts had to kill off consecutive 2-man disadvantages early in the period.
Luke Bignell has the other Colts goal while Leo Lazarev made 40 saves in the win.
Jacob Ingham stopped 32 shots for the Steelheads.
The Colts will face the Kingston Frontenacs in the Conference Semifinals.
