Too Many People Overweight

It's a horrible fact that many people really don't want to talk about.

Many young people today will not  live long  enough to make it to their 50's or senior years.

They will die not because of accidents or other mishaps....but from health issues related to obesity.

Obesity is an epidemic in Canada among young people.

In fact a study by the Ontario Medical Association stated, one in four kids aged 2 to 17 is overweight or obese.

The study also found 75 per cent of obese children grow up to be obese adults.

To try and reduce the number of overweight children and adults and the subsequent health problems that will plague them in their latter years, the OMA  want restaurants and school cafeterias to list the calories in food items on their menus to counter the growing problem of obesity, particularly among children.

And while the Medical Associations intentions are aimed in the right direction, unless people take some responsibility for their own actions and their own health, listing calories on a menu really wont do anything to make people lose weight.

What is needed here is a little more self control and a lot less gluttony.
