Another Tax Hike On The Way

Be prepared to be nickled and dimed to death by Premier Dalton McGuinty and his gang in tomorrow's budget.

The Premier has all but admitted he will be harmonizing the 8 per cent Provincial sales tax with the Federal 5 per cent GST.

And that move once again is going to hit consumers right where it the pocket book.

The Premier is the first to admit that many voters will be angry with this move.

A move that federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty is pressing for.

While this move will reduce business costs it will  force  many Ontarians to pay higher taxes on new homes, books, heating fuel, children's clothes, fast-food value meals costing less than $4, and feminine hygiene products, among other items now exempt from the PST.

New Democratic Party Leader Andrea Horwath  calls it a sales tax grab that will nickel and dime families that are already feeling a squeeze.

Even the Tories are against the move saying  the recession makes this an even worse time to blend the taxes.

So however unpalatable this is for your average taxpayer, there is one spot of good news in this while thing.

At least the Premier is telling us up front that taxes are going up.
