Obama Visit Is Exciting

You may not have gotten quite as excited as I did, but about a thousand people who gathered on Parliament Hill likely did.

As I watched US President Barack Obama smile and wave to the crowd, I got goose bumps.

He had given all those who were braving the cold to be there exactly what they were hoping for even after it was said the onlookers wouldn't get to see the President.

Obama was in Ottawa yesterday, his first foreign visit since taking office, to meet with Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

They talked about working together to save the economy, especially the auto sector and the planet.

The two have announced a clean energy dialogue aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Obama even paid tribute to Canada's fallen soldiers in Afghanistan during his quick 7 hour visit.

I think many people have hope in President Obama, I know I do, and so far he seems to be living up to his promises.

He just has so much carisma and he's down to earth.

That's evident by the quick detour he took with his 50 car motorcade after leaving the meeting with Harper.

He went to Ottawa's Byward Market in search of one of the best Canadian delicacies...the Beavertail.

He also bought a silk scarf and maple-leaf shaped cookies for his daughters.

It proves he may be president but he's also just a regular guy who couldn't go home from his first trip to Canada empty-handed.
