A Gravenhurst man is amongst five people charged for migratory bird hunting related offences.
On September 20th, 2019 a conservation officer saw two men place bait in a pond near Gravenhurst.
The next day, conservation officers saw hunters hunting migratory birds on the same pond.
One of the men didn’t have a a permit and was using a toxic shot.
He also wasn’t carrying the required accreditation while hunting with a firearm.
The case was heard in a Bracebridge court room March 4th of this year. Fines totalling $11,600 were levied against the men.
The MNR is reminding hunters that proper permits are required and that the rules regarding bait and shot size are in place to protect resources such as migratory birds for future generations.
