Bracebridge has a new Chief Librarian.
The Town’s announced that Crystal Bergstrome has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer (CEO)/Chief Librarian for the Bracebridge Public Library effective July 12th.
She’s assuming the librarian role and duties from Cathryn Rodney, who is retiring.
“I am very pleased to have Crystal join the Town in this senior leadership role,” says Mayor Graydon Smith. “Her experience with libraries in both Ontario and Alberta has positioned her well to guide the Bracebridge Public Library.”
“We are extremely fortunate to have attracted a candidate with such a wealth of relevant experience and accomplishments,” adds Barbara Hutchinson, library board chair. The board was assisted in its search by library consultants, Dysart & Jones Associates through a process that included a rigorous needs assessment, screening, and interview process.
Ms. Bergstrome has held increasingly senior positions in public libraries in Ontario and Alberta.
She has been CEO of the Midland Public Library for the past five years, where she transformed the library’s physical space, programs, and services, both live and virtual in nature. Innovations including a mobile unit and annual block parties, along with new partnerships, helped to increase library awareness and usage. Crystal is also an accomplished photographer and is a committed volunteer, both in the library sector and within the community in which she lives. She holds a Master of Library and Information Science degree and a Bachelor of Elementary Education.
Crystal and her family will be making their home in the countryside near Baysville and look forward to making the Bracebridge area their home.
