The Kiwanis Club of Huntsville Muskoka’s 2021 ‘Christmas in July’ event brought in over two tons of food and $6,500 in cash and gift cards for the Huntsville Salvation Army Food Bank.
The club’s Secretary-Treasurer Rick Brooks is sending out a huge thank you to the giving residents and visitors who stopped by last week to make it happen through donations. Club members collected donations at Freshco, Independent Grocers, and the Huntsville Metro on Wednesday and Thursday last week.
By comparison, last year’s event raised $2,222.75 and 1,439 pounds of food and personal products.
“As I shared earlier, “Awesome” itself does not begin to justify the turnout we had this drive, the community support, recognizing the need continues to be there, especially given the effects of the pandemic,” says Brooks.
