The District is seeking your opinions to develop a Community Safety and Wellbeing Plan (CSWP) for Muskoka.
Every municipality responsible for police services in Ontario must develop a CSWP plan as part of the Police Services Act. These plans target important community issues like discrimination, racism, financial security and poverty, housing, mental wellbeing and gender-based violence.
“The Solicitor General defines community safety and wellbeing as ‘the ideal state of a sustainable community where everyone is safe, has a sense of belonging, opportunities to participate and where individuals and families are able to meet their needs for education, health care, food, housing, income, the social and cultural expression’,” says District Chair John Klinck. “Muskoka’s CSWP plan will focus on tangible actions we can take together to create a safe and inclusive community for all of our residents.”
The District is hosting two virtual community input sessions, as well as an online survey to collect advice and ideas from the community.
