The Medical Director at Bracebridge and Huntsville Animal Hospitals has delivered some good news.
In an update via FB, Dr. Jason McLeod reports that the entire team has tested negative for COVID-19.
On April 11th the temporary closure of the two hospitals was reported.
Writing on behalf of both Bracebridge and Huntsville Animal Hospitals on Tuesday, Dr. Mcleod says they felt it was imperative to act in a responsible manner, considering the positive test result of a single team member, and proactively close the hospitals until all staff were tested.
“We are now assured this exposure was, as suspected, from an external source and the exposure to our other team members would be no greater a risk than for any other person at this present time in Ontario,” writes Dr. McLeod. “While there is an upswing in the number of cases being seen throughout Ontario, the measures we have taken from the onset of this pandemic assures us there is no risk in re-opening immediately. We will be operational, as we were throughout the pandemic, for appointments, surgeries, emergencies and “curb-side” assistance with medical and prescription food sales just as we were until this past weekend. Please rest assured, we have diligently and exhaustively reviewed this process and understand the frustrations of the community in dealing with this pandemic. I reiterate there is no greater risk for us returning to normal operations than existed prior to this past weekend.”
