Council reviewed the updated draft 2026 budget, which now includes approximately $1.9 million in expenditure cuts and deferrals.
A major new revenue source is a $188,920 payment from Dufferin County for the download of Mono Centre Road.
Treasurer Les Halucha noted additional unreported changes, including 2026 tree-harvesting revenue.
As presented, the tax levy increase has been reduced to 12.4% from 15.0%.
Council revisited several items for potential deferral or partial reserve contributions, including road projects on 3rd Line and Mono-Amaranth Townline, and upgrades to Purple Hill Park’s playground.
Chess tables and shaded picnic tables were removed from the budget.
Council also discussed whether road work should fully follow engineering recommendations and whether asset lifespans could be extended.
Staff were directed to return on December 9 with a revised budget targeting an approximately 8% tax increase.
