1) Why are you running?
I am running for municipal council to be more actively involved in shaping the future of our
town. I am interested in learning about the behind the scenes inner workings of the
municipality.
2) Are there any steps municipalities can take to help ease cost of living concerns?
The cost of living concerns will be unique to each individual or family circumstance. As a
municipality it will be necessary to be aware of opportunities to educate and support,
communicate and connect with existing services and try to ensure that food banks are supplied
consistently.
3) What are your ideas for economic development in your municipality?
Economic development or growth strategies need to include support for the rural landscape,
help existing businesses thrive through Chamber of Commerce initiatives and create great new
places by building lively and enduring neighbourhoods where people want to live. Planning
where growth should be occurring as well as studying where multiple dwelling buildings can be
established in close proximity to their daily destinations is needed. Continuing to grow events
with parks, recreation and culture as well as showcasing attractions for tourists will bring in
people to discover the amenities our community is enjoying.
4) Do you think the municipality has a role to play in the recruitment and retention of physicians and other healthcare workers?
It is the task of everyone in the municipality to up sell our area, whether it is through marketing
materials or testimonials. Extolling on the quality of life, agricultural roots, thriving arts and
cultural community, great amenities and existing family health team care goes a long way to
making our community “the place to be”.
5) Do you feel Hanover needs to acquire more land in order to grow?
To facilitate the growth of our community a concentrated effort to combine acquisition of new
land for future building as well as repurposing existing properties including housing
intensification will be needed.
