South Bruce Peninsula council has approved the tender for the Walker’s Bridge Rehabilitation project of over $381,000.
During a council meeting on March 1, a report was brought to council requesting they approve the tender to Allen Hastings Limited from the approved capital budget.
The report says Walker’s Bridge, located north of Highway 21 at the Sauble River on Allenford Road, is in poor condition.
The proposed design would add about 25 years to the life of the structure.
The report says approval from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans is in progress and the Grey-Sauble Conservation Authority Regulated Works Permit has been received. A notification has been sent to the Saugeen Ojibway Nation, however, no response has been received by staff.
In following the fisheries timing window for in-water work to be performed, the project is set to occur sometime between July 15 and Sept. 30.
