The Grey Bruce Health Unit says about 55 per cent of the Grey Bruce population over the age of 18 have received three or more doses of the vaccine.
This successful third dose rollout comes from the collective effort of the Grey Bruce Covid Vaccine Task Force led by the health unit.
This is compared to the 49 per cent for the province.
To achieve this result the task force utilized several vaccine rollout methods, including mass vaccination hubs, pharmacies, primary care, hospitals, Indigenous communities, and long-term care and retirement homes.
The health unit says they are proud to provide acknowledgment in recognizing the effort put forward by staff, volunteers and partners over the past weeks to save lives by supporting vaccine rollout efforts.
The health unit is reminding residents the booster dose increases the protections against severe illness and hospitalization compared to the second, from about 30 to 70 per cent.
The health unit says they have focused in on their strategy on upping the booster dose, but it is still not too late to get the vaccine.
