The Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula is going to be hosting two music events in Tobermory and Lion’s Head this December.
A report from Community Services Manger Ryan Deska was brought to council during their meeting on Nov. 8, which notified council the municipality will be holding the two events next month.
“There has been a lot of local community events that haven’t happened due to Covid, and this is one way the municipality can hopefully provide some semblance of normal for the local community as best we can,” says Deska.
Deska says the events are set for Dec. 4 at the Tobermory Community Centre, and on Dec. 18 at the Rotary Hall in Lion’s Head, both at 6 p.m..
“We are looking at having some local talent performing as well as some bands from Ontario to come and perform as well,” says Deska.
Each venue with feature two artists with Tobermory hosting Sam Martin and Delta Sugar, and Lion’s Head welcoming Great Lake Swimmers and Craig Cardiff.
Deska says the original plan was to hold an ongoing series of events throughout the year, but based on Covid restrictions, they were unable to do so.
“So these events were sort of trying to make the most of the current opportunity that we have for coming together,” says Deska.
The 2021 Parks and Recreation operating budget included the necessary $15,000 to run the music events.
Tickets are available for purchase at The Meeting Place, Peacock’s grocery, The Dandy Lion, and Scott’s Hardware for $20, or $35 for both shows.
Anyone interested in volunteering for the events can email Deska by visiting the municipal website.
