The OWFL hosted its second weekend tournaments this season at the Trafalgar Sports Park in Halton Hills.
Owen Sound Lady North Stars U15A played 4 games
In the first game the Lady North Stars started out strong, winning against Oshawa with a score of 14 -6.
The second game saw another hard-fought battle against Kawartha, Owen Sound Lady North Stars came out on top with a score of 10-8.
The third game was against Orangeville. Owen Sound Lady North Stars won with a score of 18-11.
The fourth game was a hard fought back and forth battle. Although Owen Sound didn’t come out with the win, the score was 18-17 for Kawartha. Owen Sound Lady North Stars played hard right to the last second.
A strong showing in net for all four games by Alexa Todd. Goal scorers for the games were Brooklyn Doyle (17), Edyn Beyer (11), Laine Nissen (10), Taryn Lee (6), Madison Playter (5),Aliyah Bonterre, Aleida Nelson (3), Grace Smyth (1), Emma Cooper (1), Liesl Stata(1).
U13A
The NorthStars U13A squad was back in action this weekend at the Ontario Women’s Field Lacrosse tournament in Halton Hills.
In the round robin play the team went 2 for 2. The Northstars had a huge win over top ranked team, Oshawa when the took a 8-5 win. Goals scored by Avery Seaman, Megan Nisson, Rory Jex, London Doyle and Taryn Weppler.
Game 2 the girls took another win defeating Oakville 11-4. Goals scored by Bree Wilkins, Taryn Weppler, Megan Nissen, Rory Jex and London Doyle.
The team went on to the semi-finals 1st in their pool and once again had a 9-3 win over Kitchener-Waterloo with goals were scored by London Doyle, Bree Wilkins, Megan Nissen, Taryn Weppler.
For the championship Owen Sound faced Halton Hills, both teams battled but the Northstars fell to an 8-4 loss with goals scored by Taryn Weppler, London Doyle and Bree Wilkins.
The Northstars defense played an outstanding tournament with several stick checks, physical play, moving the ball up field and winning ground ball battles. The strong defensive line up was played by Dassi Clock, Danielle Brown, Lauren Neil and Adalyn Jackson. Dani Wilkie played an awesome tournament in Net for all 4 games contributing to the 2nd place finish.
The U13A Northstars are back in action on Sunday July 26th in Halton Hills at their final Ontario Women’s Field Lacrosse tournament.

Under 11B
The North Stars Under 11 B team wrapped up their second weekend of play in the abbreviated Ontario Women’s’ Field Lacrosse Season on Sunday morning in Halton Hills. The North Stars are still chasing that elusive first win, but are continuing to learn the game under the leadership of Head Coach Adam Jackson and Trainer & Assistant Coach Chevonne Matheson. The team is also very fortunate to often have NLL Hall of Famer and Team Dad Colin Doyle patrolling the sidelines as well.
The U11B North Stars went 0-3 this weekend, dropping games to Kitchener/Waterloo 5-1, Toronto Beaches 7-0 and Orangeville 9-1. Quinn Norton scored both goals for the North Stars.
Wearing the Orange and Black so far this season have been Peyton Bechamp, Chelsea Bedford, Avery Brooks, Isabelle Brown, Ryleigh Butuk, Hanna Carr, Lyla Doyle, Adele Ferguson, Keeva Fox, Atayvia Jackson, Tessa Matheson, Quinn Norton, Peyton Perrin, Molly Richardson, Olyvia Wagner and Wynn Warwick – with seven different girls playing goal so far in the North Stars seven games.
The Northstars return to Halton Hills again this coming Sunday for the final weekend of OWFL play with an 0-5-2 record on the season, and continue to practice Mondays and Thursdays at Victoria Park.
