Another slight drop in Grey Bruce’s active Covid cases as the health unit reported five new cases on Friday and seven now considered resolved.
The Health Unit also disclosed another Covid-related death in the region.
Grey Bruce Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Arra says the older patient with severe underlying illness passed away in late April. It was not reported until today as Public Health just received confirmation the death was related to Covid.
“Our thoughts are with the family who lost their loved one,” Arra says.
Six Grey Bruce residents have died from the virus over the course of the pandemic.
The region’s active known case load is now down to 48, as resolved cases outpaced new infections. Three Grey Bruce residents are currently hospitalized.
Public Health says there are also six people from other health units transferred to local Intensive Care Units in the area.
According to Public Health, two people from Georgian Bluffs, two from Saugeen Shores and an Arran-Elderslie resident tested positive.
There are 157 active high-risk close contacts identified by Public Health.
On vaccination progress in Grey Bruce: 65,411 doses have been administered to date.
The testing and case counts data released by the health unit on Friday is reflective of a 24-hour period prior to 11:59 p.m. Thursday.
