Public Health reported nine new cases of COVID-19 in Grey Bruce Sunday.
Three residents of Huron-Kinloss tested positive along with two in Blue Mountains, and one in Owen Sound, Southgate, Chatsworth and Arran-Elderslie.
Two cases were referred to Peel Region Public Health.
The Health Unit says with 12 resolved cases, there are 66 active cases, including 17 variants.
According to Public Health the region’s cases have 479 active high-risk contacts. Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Arra says in a statement, “It takes a tremendous amount of effort to manage this number of high risk contacts. This number will keep increasing, unless we limit, starting today, our unprotected encounters with all people outside of our own households.”
Two confirmed cases are hospitalized in Grey and Bruce due to COVID-19 and two Grey Bruce residents hospitalized outside of the region.
Over the course of the pandemic, four local people have died from the virus.
32, 134 total doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Grey and Bruce to date.
About 5, 850 vaccine doses are arriving weekly in the region.
