Nine new Covid cases and two recoveries were reported by the Grey Bruce Health Unit on Thursday.
According to Public Health, two people from Owen Sound, two from Brockton, and residents of Arran-Elderslie, Grey Highlands, South Bruce, South Bruce Peninsula and The Blue Mountains tested positive.
There are now 48 active known cases in the region, the highest it’s been since mid-January. Four people are currently hospitalized.
The Health Unit also reported the region’s third Covid related death since the start of the pandemic. Public Health says the individual acquired the infection outside of Grey Bruce and was treated in a separate jurisdiction.
Meantime, the Grey Bruce Health Unit says it’s investigating two cases associated with The Pub at 10th Street and 2nd Avenue East in downtown Owen Sound.
They’re asking anyone that visited the bar on the evenings of March 17 and March 18 to contact Public Health, and seek a Covid test at an assessment centre.
On vaccination progress: 21,369 doses have been administered in the region to date.
The Grey Bruce Health Services hospital in Owen Sound remains in outbreak status. Public Health says there are no outbreaks at any long-term care or retirement homes, schools or childcare centres in the area.
The testing and case counts data released by the health unit on Thursday is reflective of a 24-hour period prior to 11:59 p.m. Wednesday.
