The Muskoka-Parry Sound Covid Relief Fund has reached its first goal, raising over $100,000.
The goal was reached over a whirlwind 12 days after being set by the local Construction Industry’s team leaders at the Muskoka Builders Association (MBA).
On Friday, Thomas Cowden, VP of the MBA, presented a cheque for $20,000 to Colin Miller, Executive Director of South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Foundation offices in Bracebridge.
“We were able to donate $24,000 to 4 local Food Banks and now, we’ve presented $20,000 to the SMMHF,” said Cowden. “More funds will be distributed this week.”
The group also has a new initiative started to continue the fundraising momentum.
The group is proud to launch ‘The Muskoka-Parry Sound 100 Club’.
For every $100 donation, donors will get an iconic decal which can be displayed on your vehicle or at your home, to reinforce your support of the Relief Fund.
Overall funding is focused on three key areas:
1 – Equipment for the 3 hospitals in Bracebridge, Huntsville, and Parry Sound.
2 – Community Food Programs for four local Food Banks.
3 – Financial support for local women’s shelters within the Muskoka Women’s Advocacy Group.
“Our entire Construction Industry has partnered the last two weeks in an incredible show of strength for the good of our communities in the Muskoka-Parry Sound Region,” says Mike Archambault, a Director of the MBA. “Now we ask all business and families who can to join our ‘100 Club’ and make a donation and display this sticker.”
