The Saugeen Shores Winterhawks of the WOAA Senior Hockey League will honour former Captain Greg Thede during their home game tomorrow night in a pre-game ceremony prior to their game against the Elora Rocks

Thede is a seven-time W.O.A.A. Sr. "AA" champion, winning three championships during stops with Durham and Elora prior to coming home to play with the Winterhawks in 2007.

Thede was named the first captain in Winterhawks history, leading the team to four championships in his 11 seasons.

The game is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. at The Plex in Port Elgin.

World Snow Day is Sunday January 20th.

The Bruce Ski Club will open their ski and snowshoe trails at the club's Sawmill Nordic Centre with free access to everyone (members and non-members) from 10 am to 4 pm that day. (Non-members will be required to sign a waiver before taking part.)

There will be guided tours of both the cross-country ski trails and snowshoe trails, as well as basic ski lessons if requested. 

After the activities, warm up by the bonfire. Soup and other goodies will be for sale in support of local racer Julian Smith.
