Knight After Knight After Knight After Night

By Fred Wallace

Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".

One of the real charms and one of the frustrating aspects of the Greater Metro Junior Hockey League is you NEVER know what to expect.

Last Thursday, I was quite excited heading to Meaford to see the Knights try and extend their win streak to 3 in a row when they hosted the South Muskoka Shield.

Only 4 days earlier, I'd seen a great game as Meaford topped the New Tecumseth Civics in a shootout, so I figured I was in for a prime showing by the home side.

Naturally, the Knights played an uninspired game and lost 4-2 to a South Muskoka team that only had 13 skaters.

Last Thursday was also the launch of a ridiculous stretch of 4 games in less than 4 days; nobody does that.

Naturally, the Knights scored 6-5 road victories over West Nippissing & Ville Marie, teams that are above them in the standings; who saw that coming ?

Finally, a bit of predictability caught up to Meaford when they were blasted in the final Sunday afternoon at Temiscaming by a 9-0 count.

All of which brings us to tonight, and if possible, an even more bizarre sequence of 4 games in less than 4 days for the Knights.

This evening at the Meaford & St Vincent Community Centre, the Knights host the South Muskoka Shield........again.

Tomorrow night, the Knights & Shield play a rematch at Port Carling.

Saturday night, the Knights come back home to host the Ville Marie Pirates.

And then, get this, Sunday afternoon the Knights go BACK to Port Carling to meet the South Muskoka for the 3rd time in less than 4 days.

What's going to happen over the next 4 kooky days for the Knights of Meaford ?

Who knows ?!

I'm Fred Wallace
