Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
We mentioned last week about the start of the curling season for the Brokerlink Grey Bruce Major League, and now in very short order, it looks like the house is rockin' everywhere.
Last weekend, the Tour Challenge was staged at Thunder Bay.
Owen Sound curler Julie Tippin who skips for Woodstock went 2 & 2 in the Tier 2 preliminary Round before being eliminated in the quarterfinal by Syaka Yoshimura.
The Brokerlink League resumes tomorrow night at the Port Elgin Curling Club with 4 matches starting at 9 pm
In Week 1, Scott Davidson, Don Bartley, Joey Rettinger & Al Hutchinson all won their matches.
Playing at Port Elgin tomorrow night will be a major primer for a handful of the Brokerlink Curlers as Superspiel 37 is set to commence at the club on Friday morning.
Super Spiel XXXVII will have an international flavour as Qiana Zou from China and Yu Tian of Korea have confirmed their entries.
Organizers anticipate a field of 20 rinks will compete through the weekend hoping to be among those still standing on Sunday afternoon.
The winner's purse this year is in the neighbourhood of $ 5,000 which is a hefty sum for curlers on the pro circuit & a major bonus for those who compete on a more regional basis.
Last year Wayne Tuck won Superspiel and he will be back to defend the crown.
Plus prominent provincial rinks skipped by Mark Bice and Pat Ferris are also in the field along with the strongest local rinks including the 2018 Brokerlink Champs skipped by Brett McAllister
In rapid fashion curling season in these parts is ramped up, highlighted by Port Elgin Superspiel 37
