Hi, this is Fred Wallace with " Off the Wire ".
It's a big day in Owen Sound as the Bluewater Football Championship game is at Victoria Park this afternoon pitting the two city high schools; Owen Sound District & St Mary's head to head.
And looking at the calendar, we're heading to the Fall playoffs for Bluewater Athletics with CWOSSA and OFSAA for Girls Basketball & Boys Volleyball approaching rapidly.
It's a big weekend in Owen Sound.
The annual Regional Silver Stick Tournament begins today and runs through Sunday.
The Silver Stick concept originated more than 60 years ago and I think it's one of the truest championships in Minor Sports whereby you have to win a Regional Tournament to get to the International Tournament.
Finally, let's look at the Attack this weekend.
Three games in 2 & 1/2 days over massive terrain.
Tonight at Oshawa.
Tomorrow, home to division rival London
And then, for good measure, Sunday afternoon at Hamilton.
Some may say the competitive landscape is even with Oshawa having played last night at Peterborough, London playing at home tonight ( against Flint ! ) before coming to Owen Sound Saturday night and Hamilton playing Saturday afternoon at home against Kingston before hosting the Attack the following afternoon, granted with an extra hour since the clocks get turned back this weekend.
I beg to differ with this apparent ping-pong-ball-in-the-wind, map-on-the-dartboard scheduling......but I'll save that for another day.
Have a great weekend.
I'm Fred Wallace
